Early Recovery information managers, and other staff having to take on information management, have a dual role in humanitarian crises. Their first, and most urgent role is to support coordination in the humanitarian response. Their second role is to ensure that the pathway to recovery and development is also well supported.

What are the Early Recovery IM toolkits?

The Global Cluster for Early Recovery has made the Coordination Information Management Toolbox and the Knowledge Transition Information Management Toolbox. The toolkits respectively aim to improve the flow of critical coordination information during an Emergency response, and to enable the flow of critical information during the response to development and government partners.

Each toolbox is made up of different toolkits, depending on who you are, what phase you are operating in and where you are working. Each Toolkit consists of key tools, each of which are linked to a briefing page and a short webinar; support tools, which may not always be used but might be of interest, and analysis tools, which are highly recommended for use and will enable better use of information for decision making, but may not be relevant to every humanitarian crisis.

HOW DO YOU FIND AND DOWNLOAD THE TOOLS YOU WANT?

HOW DO YOU USE THE TOOLKITS?

When you arrive at a toolkit, the tools will be arranged into phases. These phases are taken from the HPC. At the beginning of each phase, there is a document to read which outlines what each phase should cover and what you might do at each time.
