Crisis in Kasaï-DRC: Displaced population movement

The humanitarian situation remains volatile in Kasai region where there is ongoing displacement and population movement and military operations in some areas. Population movements are continuing, with 11,0006 new displaced persons reported in early May 2017, including 8,000 in the Kasaï Province and 3,000 in the Lomami. Verification is ongoing for many other alerts received regarding displacements including at the urban centres like Mbuji Mayi. The multiple internal displacements of populations in the various provinces and the ensuing humanitarian crisis have generated significant humanitarian assistance needs. Health system already fragile before this crisis has been affected, and cases of high maternal and child mortality.
