UNDP, Suyria, May 2017
Since the start of the Syrian Civil War in 2011, the humanitarian situation has steadily deteriorated. The conflict has displaced more than 10 million people – both internally and externally – and destroyed large parts of the socio-economic infrastructure in Syria. Millions are food insecure, lack access to basic services such as clean water and sanitation, education, or health. The humanitarian response in Syria was largely driven by the ongoing armed civil war and the resulting high number of IDPs and refugees.
An ER and livelihood Sector is activated, led by UNDP.
